Spring break already?
It’s just around the corner for most Rogue Valley students, and with it comes working parents’ annual scramble for something for the kids to do. A number of child-care providers will offer spring break camps March 23-27, featuring activities from sports to crafts to karate and skating. Pre-registration is required in most cases, and camps fill up fast. If you know of a camp not on the list below, please drop us a line.

Medford Parks and Recreation Department, will offer a spring break camp for kids 4-12 at the Santo Community Center, 701 N. Columbus Ave., Medford, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily March 23-27, with extended hours available for a fee. The camp cost is $69 for the week for residents and $79 for non-residents. Campers are divided into three age groups and should bring lunches. Details: 774-2400 or www.playmedford.com.
Oregon Conservatory of Performing Arts, Medford, will offer a dancing, acting and singing camp for kids 5-12 at St. Mary's School, 816 Black Oak Drive, Medford. The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, with extended hours available for a fee. The camp fee is $215 for the week. Organizers have scheduled acting class with an Oregon Shakespeare Festival actor, singing classes with music teacher Marcia Katzmar and dance classes in various styles. Roller Odyssey, 2425 South Pacific Highway, Medford, will offer day camp for kids 4-12 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. Cost is $100 for five days with early registration, or $25 daily. Camp activities include skating, dancing, games and meals. Details: 772-1400 or www.sk8info.com.
The Rogue Valley Family YMCA, 522 W. Sixth St., Medford, will offer spring break camp again this year for school-age kids, kindergarten through sixth grade., at a location to be announced. Campers will participate in open swim at the Y, arts and crafts, games, special daily activities and field trips. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is $25 per day. Details: 772-6295.
Ashland Family YMCA, 540 YMCA Way, Ashland, plans spring break day camps for kindergartners through fifth-graders for two weeks, March 16-20 and March 23-27. Activities include swimming, crafts, sports games, cooking and field trips. Camp runs 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $22 daily for members and $27 daily for non-members. Extended hours are available for an additional fee. The Y also plans soccer skills camp, gymnastics camp, baseball/softball skills camp, leadership camp, world of sports camp, gym-n-swim camp, babysitting classes and handspring clinics during those weeks; hours, age limits and costs vary. Castle Pine Ranch, a rescue and rehabilitation ranch at 972 Poormans Road, Jacksonville, plans a spring break horsemanship camp March 23-27 for kids 10 to 17 years old. Activities include horsemanship, ground work, manners and obstacle-course riding. Camp runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and costs $350 for the week. Details: Sally at 210-0350.
