Dorothy Mae Dodson The cryptside service for Dorothy Mae Dodson will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford. Pastor Bill Larsen of Lozier Lane Baptist Church in Medford will officiate. Mrs. Dodson, 84, of Medford, died Sunday (Oct. 28, 2001) at her home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 380 S.E. Spokane, Suite 110, Portland, OR 97202, or the National Osteoporosis Foundation, 1232 22nd St. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20037. She was born Dorothy Thompson on Jan. 6, 1917, in Shawnee, Okla., where she attended school. On Dec. 31, 1946, in Bristow, Okla., she married James R. Dodson, who died in 1991. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946 from Shawnee. Mrs. Dodson and her husband owned and operated Dodson Egg Farm, the first egg farm in the area, for about 10 years. Dodson Road was named after them. She was a member of Lozier Lane Baptist Church. Mrs. Dodson enjoyed ceramics and sewing. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Lake, Medford; a son, Bob Kraus, Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Hank Thompson, Durant, Okla.; a sister, Elwanda Gentry, Shawnee, Okla.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford. Thomas Coughlin The family and friends of Thomas Coughlin will gather at 1 p.m. Friday at the Rogue Valley Country Club in Medford. Bill Gallagher will officiate. Mr. Coughlin, 76, of Medford, died Sunday (Oct. 28, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon, P.O. Box 4291, Medford, OR 97501. He was born Dec. 10, 1924, in Dublin, Ireland, one of nine children. On March 1, 1954, in Dublin, he married Elizabeth Ennis, who died in 1999. They emigrated from Ireland on their honeymoon. Mr. Coughlin retired from Intel Corp. He was an amateur ham radio enthusiast. He enjoyed activities with his children, including Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, fishing, gardening and photography. Survivors include two sons, Paul Thomas, Medford, and Thomas Joseph, Vernonia; two daughters, Laura Davis, Medford, and Lorraine Coughlin, Hillsboro; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory. Donald M. Patterson The memorial service for Donald M. Patterson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Perl Funeral Home, Medford. Mr. Patterson, 88, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001) in Medford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Sight and Hearing Center, 228 N. Holly, Medford, OR 97501, or Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504. He was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Klamath Falls, the son of Warren and Myrtle Patterson. The family moved to a farm in Central Point in 1925. He attended grade school and high school in Central Point, where he was active in 4-H and sports, graduating in 1932. In 1936, Mr. Patterson owned Flying A gas station in Central Point, where he met his future wife. On Dec. 23, 1939, in Vancouver, Wash., he married Laura Pastorino, who survives. After their marriage, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service, stationed at Lake of the Woods. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following the war, he and his wife lived in Central Point, where his commitment to farming led to work at Grange Co-Op, an organization his father had helped organize. Mr. Patterson worked for Grange Co-Op for 29 years, the last 17 as general manager. Under his management, the co-op expanded to include a merger with the Jackson County Co-Op, and the construction of a bulk fertilizer plant, a bulk petroleum plant on Pacific Highway and a retail store in Ashland. He retired in 1975. In the community, he served as a school board member for Central Point School District 6 for eight years, during the unification of the district and the construction of Crater High School. He also served on the Central Point City Council for seven years. Mr. Patterson enjoyed golf and made two holes-in-one, playing a nine-hole round of golf when he was 72. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with his family at their cabin at Lake of the Woods. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Don, Davis, Calif.; a daughter Judy Reeves, Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marian Crank. Arrangements; Perl Funeral Home, Medford. Lynn B. Shreeve Sr. Lynn B. Shreeve Sr., 56, of Marcola, formerly of Medford, died Sunday (Oct. 28, 2001) in Arizona. No service is planned. He was born Dec. 26, 1944, in Medford, a son of Leonard and Francis (Dorf) Shreeve. He graduated from Medford High School in 1963. On Dec. 6, 1968, in Medford, he married Jewell Botefur, who survives. They lived in Medford until 1976, then in the Eugene area. Mr. Shreeve owned and operated a roofing company bearing his name since 1976. He served four years in the National Guard. Mr. Shreeve enjoyed hunting, fishing, auto racing and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Dennis, Junction City, and Lynn Jr., Redmond; three brothers, all in Oregon; and five grandchildren. Wilson Crystal Marie Wilson, 90, of Greenview, Calif., formerly of White City, died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001) at Madrone Hospice House in Yreka, Calif. Arrangements will be announced by Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford. Michael H. Longie Michael H. Longie, 48, of Medford, died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001) at his home. Arrangements will be announced by Conger Morris Funeral Directors, Medford. Tom Shepherd Tom Shepherd, 67, of White City, died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Abbey Funeral, Medford. Gene Lee Barlow The memorial service for Gene Lee Barlow will be at 11 a.m. today at Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Medford. The Rev. Jim Berglund of Valley View Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate. Mr. Barlow, 74, of Jacksonville, died Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001) at his home.
