Cascade Christian sweeps past Butte Falls

BUTTE FALLS - Cascade Christian swept Butte Falls, 15-7, 15-11, in a non-league match Thursday between teams preparing for upcoming postseason play.

The Challengers, who tied for first with St. Mary's in the Southern Cascade League this season, are a Class 2A power, while the Loggers, the Sky A Southern Division champions, are a 1A stalwart.

Butte Falls was led by sophomore outside hitter Asia Million (seven kills, 11 digs), sophomore middle Sarah Matthews (five blocks) and junior setter Krystle Rowley (26 assists).

The match was originally scheduled for Sept. 18.

The Loggers compete for a Class 1A state-playoff berth Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. at North Medford High School. A win in either of two matches will do the trick for Butte Falls.
