Police have released a sketch of a man suspected of assaulting and robbing a retiree early Sunday at Bear Creek Park in
south Medford.
The suspect used a brick to break the 68-year-old male victims leg, then took his wallet before running from the
scene. The incident was reported after the victim staggered to another area of the park off Highland Drive and informed
a parkgoer of what had happened, said Medford police Lt. Tim George.
The victim, a Medford resident who frequently visits the park, was treated for his injuries at Providence Medford
Medical Center and released Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The suspect is described as a white man in his mid- to late-30s who stands about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about
150 pounds. He has sandy blond hair, a light-colored mustache and a gap between his two front teeth. During the crime,
he wore light-tan shorts, a white T-shirt with the words "Rogue Valley Soccer" written on it and white tennis
shoes with blue trim.
"We are convinced the suspect is still in the area," George said. "This is a makeable case."
If captured, the suspect could face felony charges of first- and fourth-degree assault and first-degree robbery, George
said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to phone Medford police at 774-2230 or 770-4783.
