See what's new at Ashland's galleries during First Friday art walk, held from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 1.
Galleries will open new exhibits, and some will offer receptions for the artists and live music.

"Plein aire" (open air) oil paintings by California artist Chuck Prodhomme will be displayed through September. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Prodhomme will be on hand to discuss his paintings at the reception.

- The A Street Artisan Gallery will celebrate its grand opening with an open house from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at 169 A St., Ashland. The gallery will feature works in a variety of media by more than 10 artists. A First Friday reception will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
- A collection of 16 black-and-white fine art prints by Ashland artist Irene Kai will be displayed through September at Nuwandart, 258 A St., No. 2, Ashland. The photographic images are included in an art book, "What Do You See?" by Kai, to be released this month by Silver Light Publications. The bold images in the book are accompanied by text from four spiritual traditions. Kai will be on hand at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, to discuss her work.
- Paintings and drawings by Isabelle Rosier Alzado will be displayed Friday through Sunday, Sept. 1-3, in the lobby of Oregon Stage Works, 185 A St., Ashland. Alzado was raised in France and studied art therapy in New York City. She earned a bachelor's in art from Southern Oregon University. Alzado's exhibit will include her new series of oil paintings titled "The Lovers," as well as a retrospective collection of her figurative art. The exhibit may be viewed from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Call 482-4440.
