EUGENE — The iron was extremely unkind to the 10th-ranked North Medford girls basketball team Friday night.
The Black Tornado connected on just 25 percent of its shots but still found a way to push Sheldon to the brink in the Irish's 52-46 victory in Southwest Conference action.
Sheldon (10-4 overall) improved to 4-0 in SWC play to remain tied with Roseburg for the league lead.
North Medford fell to 10-4 overall and 2-2 in conference.
The Tornado stayed afloat despite the poor shooting and serious foul trouble by collecting 17 offensive rebounds and hitting 22 of 28 from the free-throw line. The Irish went 23-for-33 at the line.
