QUINTET OF THE AMERICAS: The Jackson County Community Concert Association will present Quintet of the Americas at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. FEENEY: Labor agitator Anne Feeney will perform a benefit concert for Jobs with Justice and KSKQ Community Radio at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 87 Fourth St., Ashland. Admission is $10. Doors open at 6 p.m. An information table will inform people about KSKQ and Jobs with Justice and offer information outlining local efforts for labor rights and work force housing.

Saturday, Jan. 20

GUITAR CONCERT: The Jefferson Classical Guitar Society will present guitarist Denis Azabagic in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Southern Oregon University Music Building Recital Hall, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Tickets are $15 general, $12 for seniors and $5 for students. Children younger than 12 will be admitted free. BLUEGRASS: Williams Grange will present the Gold River Bluegrass Band, with opening band A Stitch In Time, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Williams Grange Hall, 20100 Williams Highway, Williams. HANDBELLS: Kathie Fink will present "Legacy," a solo handbell concert and tribute to her father, Larry Fink Sr., and the Fink Family Handbell Ringers, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2000 Oakwood Drive, Medford. Fink will be accompanied on the piano by her sister-in-law Sharon Fink. The free concert will include TV clips from 1963-65 of the Fink family and historical interviews with Larry and his wife, Wilma. Fink is a founding member and current ringer of SONOS Handbell Ensemble in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Wednesday, Jan. 24

LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO: Southern Oregon University and Jefferson Public Radio's One World Concert Series will present the Grammy award-winning group Ladysmith Black Mambazo at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. The South African group incorporates traditional African sounds with gospel and contemporary music. Tickets are $10 to $32. Call 779-3000.

Thursday, Jan. 25

POETRY TRIBUTE: Friends of the Hannon Library at Southern Oregon University and Friends of William Stafford, an international nonprofit organization, will present readings of poems by the late Poet Laureate William Stafford at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, in Room 305 of the SOU library. Guest poets will read Stafford's work followed by an invitation for audience members to read their own favorite Stafford poem or share a memory of Stafford. Guest poets include Anna Beauchamp, Jonah Bornstein, Darrelle Cavan, Scott Dalgarno, Marcy Green, Vince Wixon and Oregon Poet Laureate Lawson Inada. ROGUE VALLEY SYMPHONY: The Rogue Valley Symphony will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at the Southern Oregon University Music Recital Hall, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland; 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Grants Pass High School Performing Arts Center, 830 N.E. Ninth St., Grants Pass. The program will feature violinist Ian Swensen performing Samuel Barber's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra. There will be a pre-concert talk by Pat Daly one hour before each performance. GUITAR AND LUTE CONCERT: Southern Oregon University Department of Music will present "A Very! Eclectic Guitar and Archlute Recital" at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, in the Music Recital Hall at Southern Oregon University, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. SOU music department guitar adjunct faculty member David Rogers will perform music from his first solo recording on Focus Records, "The Italian Archlute," as well as duets with three artist friends. PUPPET SHOW: The Storytelling Guild and Craterian Performances will present the Portland-based Tears of Joy Puppet Theater's production of "The Reluctant Dragon" at 1:30 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. Doors will open one half hour before the performances. Seating is limited. Admission is the donation of a new or gently used book to benefit local outreach programs for children who are in need of books.

SONGS OF THE RAILROAD: The Friends of Applegate Library presents a free Oregon Chautauqua program, "Magic Carpet Made of Steel: Songs of America's Railroads," performed by Jeni K. Foster at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Applegate Branch Library, 18485 N. Applegate Road, Applegate. In her interactive program, Foster shows how songs about the country's railroads reflect a particularly American sense of adventure, opportunity and freedom. Call 846-7346.

  • SPOTLIGHT ON JULIE ANDREWS: Reneé Hewitt stars in a look at the life and songs of Julie Andrews, featuring many selections from her Broadway and movie musicals. Narration is written by Hewitt and read by Don Matthews. The live band features Staci Scalfari, flute; Lisa Truelove, cello; and Jennifer Schloming, piano. Shows are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays, Jan. 12 to 21. Tickets are $16 with reserved seating an additional $2.
  • SPOTLIGHT ON THE ANDREWS SISTERS: Priscilla Quinby, Livia Genise and Gayle Wilson star in a look at the life and songs of the Andrews Sisters, featuring many selections from their recordings. The spotlight features a live band, recreating the sounds of the era. Shows are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday Jan. 19 to 20 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, in the Grand Ballroom of the Windmill Inn and Suites of Ashland, 2525 Ashland St., Ashland.   • 24/7: Ashland New Plays Festival will present seven short plays, each written the night before and directed and rehearsed the day after for a total of 24 hours. Writers, directors, actors and musicians are drawn from the Rogue Valley theater and music communities. Playwrights begin writing at 8 p.m. Sunday and the directors take over 11 hours later.
