Challenger boys, girls take second

BROOKINGS — Cascade Christian's boys and girls track teams each claimed second place in the Brookings-Harbor Rotary Invitational on Saturday.

North Valley scored 1221/2 points to edge the Challenger boys (1061/2), while the Brookings-Harbor girls totaled 138 points to ease by Cascade Christian (93).

Josh Heidegger won both the javelin (160-2) and triple jump (39-3) for the Cascade Christian boys, while teammate Jordan Burchfiel hurled the discus 144-8 to take first place.

Cascade Christian's Jordan Ockunzzi clocked 23.85 in the 200 meters for a first-place finish and was third in the 100 with a time of 11.71.

In girls action, Rachelle Buck's school-record throw of 110-5 in the discus was good for second place and teammate Heather Case paced the field in the 200 (29.11).

North Valley's Taylor Vandehey cruised to wins in the 400 (1:04.03) and the 300 hurdles (49.99), while Rogue River's Cole Watson took first in the 3,000 (9:27.35) and second in the 1,500 (4:12.18).
