| James triumphs at speedwayWHITE CITY -- Jacksonville's Markey James passed Rich Papenhausen of Chico on
the final lap Sunday to secure first place in the Winged Modified main event at Southern
Oregon Speedway.
James started 12th in the 25-lap race and lost a lap because of a multiple car collision in turn four of the first lap. The one-time Winston West rookie of the year maneuvered through the 17-car field to catch Papenhausen on the second turn of 20th lap and held on for the victory. In the pro stock division, Jeremy Richie outraced 19 competitors to earn his first feature victory. Richie started ninth and took the lead on the 23rd lap from Dave Everson, who led for 22 of the 25 laps. Points leader Gary Rotarius worked his way from 10th to second before fading to sixth. Points leader Tracy Bradley won the mini stock main, while super trucks points leader Lindsey Bryant was also victorious.
