Boyd Carstensen was born June 16, 1931 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to John and Anna Carstensen, who preceded him in death.
He graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, where he earned the rank of Sergeant. He attended Southern Oregon University and Oregon State University.
Boyd Married Shirley Chaney of Myrtle Creek in 1955, who survives. They have a daughter, Sally Hansen, son in law, Brian Hansen and two grandchildren, Timothy, 12, and Brooke, 6, all of Eureka, California.
He started his own construction company in Medford in 1965.
Boyd loved being out in the country, hunting, fishing and exploring back roads. He liked traveling and was a big Oregon State Beavers fan.
He is survived by a sister, Ann Anderson of Lincoln, Calif., and two brothers, Robert Carstensen, of Central Point, and John Carstensen, of Livermore, Calif.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 1st at 2:00 p.m. at the United First Methodist Church of Medford.
