Phones are working again this afternoon after a technical glitch prevented people from calling officials directly this morning.

The problem happened when Qwest moved the city’s phone numbers to a new line connecting the city to Qwest. That line was miconfigured. Qwest fixed the problem by moving the city’s service back to an old line.

City Network Administrator Steve Edwards stressed that the problems wasn’t related to the city’s new Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system adopted last month.
