LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Kevin Croucher of Grants Pass is in ninth place through 18 qualifying games in the Professional Bowlers Association Senior Tour U.S. Open.

Croucher has a pinfall of 7,908 and a record of 4-4 after the first of three eight-game round-robin match-play blocks.

Two-time defending champion Tom Baker leads with a pinfall of 8,119. He's 8-0 in matches.

All 24 remaining bowlers return this morning for the second match-play round. The third is at noon.

After the final block, the top four bowlers will advance to the stepladder finals at 3:30 p.m., with the winner taking home $20,000 and a berth in the 2008 PBA Tournament of Champions.
