I remember reading in your paper last fall that local Dagoba Organic Chocolates was bought by Hershey Co. The story gave an estimated value of the company, but not the purchase price. Has the purchase price been recorded somewhere?

According to Securities and Exchange Commission filings filed by Hershey, the company reported its wholly-owned subsidiary, Artisan Confections Company, purchased the assets of Dagoba Organic Chocolates LLC based of Ashland for $17 million.

The SEC filing went on to say that Dagoba has annual sales of approximately $8 million.

Hershey also reported that it assumed $1.7 million in liabilities when it purchased Dagoba from founder Frederick Schilling, whose family still runs the chocolatier.
