W. Scott Hayes

August 8, 1961 -- May 21, 2007

On May 21, 2007, unexpectedly and tragically our beloved son and brother lost his life. Many will remember Scott as a loving, kind, and caring person. All who knew him will never forget those qualities.

At the very young age of two years old, Scott developed a love of flying, which never diminished as time passed. He earned his pilot's license at seventeen and at nineteen was Chief Flight Instructor. From there he progressed rapidly from small engine planes to jet passenger planes. The 757 was his favorite of all the planes he flew. He flew transatlantic for several years and later strictly domestic flights to be home with his family. His children were his main source of comfort: Lily, Julie, and Jared. He devoted his life to them and took them with him wherever he went, from fishing trips to international trips.

He started flying with American Airlines in 1984, as engineer to copilot and earning Captain's rating in 1991.

His flying abilities were known to all who flew with him from copilots to passengers. His deep concern for his passengers were prime in his thoughts as each one took their seat on the plane.

He had a love for God, which was expressed in his prayers of thankfulness for the countless blessings he received, especially by way of his children.

He leaves his father, Wendell; mother, Gayleen; and sister, Cheri. He also leaves his wife, Juliette; two daughters, Lily and Julie; and son, Jared. Scott was loved deeply by his family and always will be.

Memorial services were held in Texas. Memorial services in Medford will be held: June 30, 2007 at the Hampton Inn, 1122 Morrow Road, 2 pm Saturday. Gerald Hajek will be officiating.
