The Dollyrots are a three-piece punk rock band with a new album out on Blackheart Records titled "Because I'm Awesome."

The Los Angles-based threesome is touring throughout the United States and will perform at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Johnny B's, 35 S. Bartlett St., Medford.

The Dollyrots features lead Kelly Ogden on vocals and bass, along with Luis Cabezas on guitars and Chris Black on drums.

The group's sound is straight ahead, with no genre-bending transgressions. Just tight, punk power pop. Ogden's vocals are sweet and strong, and Cabezas and Black come through with the instrumentation.

"Eat My Heart Out," the band's first album, was released in 2004 on the Lookout label.

The Dollyrots hail artists such as Dee Dee Ramone, Joey Santiago, Cherie Currie and The Runaways, DJ Bonebreak and other punk rock groups as influences, and they claim to sound like a range of artists from Joan Jett herself to a 6-year-old imitating Jerry Lee Lewis.
