KEITH EVAN KIMBALL

Keith Evan Kimball (1930-2007) passed away June 25, 2007 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. A celebration of Keith's life will be held later this summer in Ashland.

Keith was born in Eugene, Oregon, November 19, 1930. He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School and attended the University of Oregon before serving in the United States Army. Upon his return he moved to Ashland and received his degree in Elementary Education while working at the old Market Basket on the corner of Siskiyou Blvd. and Beach Street.

Keith taught 5th grade in Central Point for two years and then Physical Education in the Ashland School District for 28 years, touching the lives of many young people in the community. He taught at all five elementary schools and led intramural sports. He was an encourager to those who needed encouraging, a good listener for kids who needed to be heard, and he always made sure that everyone got a chance to play!

A devoted father, he spent summers fishing the lakes, streams and the ocean (his favorite place of all). In the winter he hauled kids to ski at Mt. Ashland. Not being one to sit on the sidelines, he eventually learned to ski himself and went on to become the Ashland High School Ski Team Coach. For many years, after spending time with his kids in their sports, he would head to his second job at United Grocers in Medford.

Following retirement in 1989, Keith settled into a life of farming and gardening. As the Mr. Fixit of the neighborhood, he spent many hours on neighborhood projects. He and Phebe traveled in Europe, Africa, and Australia.

He is survived by his wife Phebe Ann Kimball; his children (and their spouses) Kristi Mastrofini (Gil) of Ashland, Brad Kimball (JoMarie) of Pueblo, CO, Renee McKibben (Arthur) of Los Angeles, step children (and their spouses) Elizabeth Dunn (David) of Ashland, Charles Belford (Anita) of Lowden, WA; brothers and sisters (and their spouses) Don Kimball (Dorothy) of Eugene, Eunice Barnts (Dennis) of Creswell, OR, Karmen Bresko (John) of Estacada, OR; nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Keith was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the George Robertson Scholarship Fund, in memory of Keith Kimball; Ashland Senior High School, 201 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland, OR. 97520.
