Homegrown musical talent will be showcased at the Jackson County Fair tonight.

Itís Fairapalooza, a competition featuring six local bands. Each band will perform one song, then judges will select the top two performers to sing three additional songs. The grand prize is $3,000, while the runner-up will take home a consolation prize of $2,000.

The show, which starts at 8 p.m., is free with fair admission. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and kids 7 to 12. Parking is $4 or take a shuttle from Crater High School in Central Point or Shermís Food 4 Less in Medford for just $1 for a round-trip. Jackson County Fairgrounds and Expo Center is at 1 Peninger Road, Central Point.
