If you missed being a contestant on the popular TV show "Dancing with the Stars," don't despair. California-based Stargazer Entertainment is presenting a weekend of Latin and swing dancing classes, demonstrations, dining and dancing Saturday and Sunday, July 28-29, featuring two dancers from the show, right here in Southern Oregon.

If you missed being a contestant on the popular TV show "Dancing with the Stars," don't despair. California-based Stargazer Entertainment is presenting a weekend of Latin and swing dancing classes, demonstrations, dining and dancing Saturday and Sunday, July 28-29, featuring two dancers from the show, right here in Southern Oregon.

"Dancing with the Stars," season-one winner Alec Mazo and four-time contender Edyta Sliwinska will teach dance workshops and present dance demonstrations all weekend.

Classes will be offered in cha-cha, jive/swing, international samba, salsa and international rumba. Classes are 75 minutes each and run from 10 a.m. to 5:40 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Evergreen Ballroom, 6088 Crater Lake Ave., Central Point. The cost is $45 for one class, with price reductions for each additional class.

Additional classes will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at the Evergreen Ballroom. Again, the cost is $45 for one class, with price reductions for each additional class.

Everyone gets a chance to catch their breath Sunday afternoon before getting dressed up in semi-formal attire for the evening's events. The night has two parts.

The first part is from 5 to 6:55 p.m. at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St., Ashland and consists of samba classes by Mazo and Sliwinska, performances by Mazo and Sliwinska and local dancers with live music by the six-piece band, the Fabulous Fairlanes, for everyone to dance to. Finger food will be available. The cost is $65 per person.

The second half of the evening is from 7:05 to 9 p.m. It too takes place at the Armory and consists of jive/swing classes and performances by Mazo and Sliwinska and live dance music for everyone by the six-piece band, the Fabulous Fairlanes. Finger food again will be available.

The cost is $65 per person. In addition there will be a catered dinner and dessert provided by the Hungry Woodsman Restaurant for an additional $25.

Stay for both parts, have dinner and pay $150.

All ages and level of experience are welcome.
