It's Medford's second annual Cardboard Boat Race Challenge, and it's today at Hawthorne Pool on Main Street.

Check-in time begins at 9 a.m., followed by a rules meeting and judging of the best designed and best decorated boats. Then it's into the water for the main event.

First prize, a wooden paddle, goes to the boat that wins the race. A “Titanic” award goes to the least successful competitor. Last year’s victors were Medford city councilmen Jim Kuntz and Jason Anderson.
