Medford police are asking for help in their search for a suspect who allegedly stabbed a man in Hawthorne Park on Saturday.

Medford police are asking for help in their search for a suspect who allegedly stabbed a man in Hawthorne Park on Saturday.

Police responded to the stabbing call at the Medford park at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday. Upon arriving at the scene, police found the stabbing victim. The victim's wound was determined to be non-life threatening. He was treated and released at a local hospital, according to a press release prepared by Officer Don Lane.

The investigation revealed the victim and suspect were acquaintances and had engaged in a verbal altercation during which the suspect brandished a knife and stabbed the victim. The suspect then fled the park on a bicycle, Lane said.

The suspect is described as a young, white male, five-feet four inches tall, weighing 145 pounds with short brown hair. He was wearing camouflage shorts and no shirt, Lane said.

Lane could not be reached for further comment Sunday.
