The Southern Oregon RiverDogs barely missed their opportunity to complete a three-game sweep of the Vancouver Flyers at Harry and David Field on Sunday.

The RiverDogs' Jared Adamson flew out to first base with the tying run threatening at third in the ninth inning, and the Flyers survived with a 4-3 victory.

Garrett Brown drove in three runs for the Flyers on the day and hit a key two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to give Vancouver a 2-1 advantage, its first lead of the game.

The RiverDogs' Allen Smith went 2-for-3 and drove home Tyson Nelson to tie the game 2-all in the bottom of the fifth.

Marcus James also had a pair of hits and Kyle Williamson knocked in the RiverDogs' final run of the contest.

Brown knocked in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and Kevin Scott was walked with the bases loaded to force home a run to give the Flyers a 4-2 cushion.

The RiverDogs (15-12) swept the Flyers in their doubleheader on Saturday.

AGE 11-12 STATE TOURNAMENT — At Portland, Medford National Central was only down 3-2 after four innings, but surrendered 16 runs the rest of the way to fall to Lake Oswego 19-2 in the first round of pool play in the state tournament at Lakeside Little League Field.

Jake McCoy and Christian Bowley each drove in a run for Medford National Central (0-1), which will play Cascade today at 6:30 p.m.
