Bridge cultures at a performance by the Brothers of the Baladi at 7:30 p.m. today at Havurah Shir Hadash, 185 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland.

The Portland-based band adds Western influences such as reggae, Celtic, Latin and rock music to centuries-old Middle Eastern musical tradition to create a signature sound that is popular at colleges, clubs and festivals. Their sound has been heard in videos, television documentaries and on stage to accompany theatrical pieces.
Itís also big with the belly dancers. Local belly dancers Kajmir and Emily will join the band at the Havurah show.
