Medford police and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department both have pedestrian-safety operations planned today.

Medford police will work from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Prune and Columbus streets, focusing their attention on drivers who fail to yield the right of way to pedestrians in the crosswalk.

Sheriff’s deputies will conduct a similar operation at the intersection of Antelope and Division roads in White City.

Both operations are funded by the Oregon Department of Transportation, which gives grants to agencies to boost awareness of pedestrian safety laws.
