Dale Wayne Flora



Dale Wayne Flora, 87, of Medford, Ore., died on July 25, 2007. Dale was born to Mayme and Levi, on June 16, 1920 in Doniphan, Nebr. He grew up on a farm with two brothers and two sisters. In 1936, he and his siblings followed his parents to La Verne, Calif. In 1938, he became the first of three generations to graduate from Bonita High School in La Verne. While at Bonita he excelled in track and baseball. Dale loved to play golf, playing two rounds as recently as last year, and continued to play softball well into his seventies.



He married his high school sweetheart, Clara Mae Ebersole, in 1940. A Battle of the Bulge veteran, Dale spent 18 months fighting in Europe during WWII. Dale was involved in the founding of La Verne Little League in 1954. In 1979, he retired after 29 years with the Metropolitan Water District. In 1987, Dale and Mae moved to Medford, Ore. to be near their daughter. Dale was a staunch supporter of South Medford High School athletics.



Dale is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clara Mae; son, Jerry (Bobbie) of La Verne; daughter, Sandi Iverson (Allen) of Medford; grandchildren, Kevin Flora of Dove Canyon, Jeff Flora and Brian Flora of Claremont, Bill Iverson of Portland, Ore. and Rochelle Boone (Mark) of Medford; great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Alex Flora and Tanner Boone. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.



A graveside service will be held at Siskiyou Memorial Park on Thursday, August 2nd at 10:00 a.m.
