PORTLAND — James Swindler belted a two-run single that snapped a 7-7 tie and fueled Medford National Central to a 10-7 win over St. Helens in the third-place game of the 11-12-year-old boys state Little League baseball tournament at Lakeside Little League Park.

Tyler Gould went 3-for-3 to lead Medford National Central at the plate. Joe Cooney added two hits, including a two-run, third-inning homer that broke the scoring ice for the winners.

The lead changed hands three times and was tied once before the Medford team took control.

Adrian Garcia pitched the final 11/3 innings, yielding one hit and no runs, to notch the win on the mound.

Medford National Central finished with a 9-3 record, including a 3-3 mark at the state tourney.

Lake Oswego romped to a 10-0 win over Pendleton in Saturday's championship game.
