It's back to the table tonight for Phoenix City Council, which continues discussion about whether to contract with an outside fire district for service.

The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. in the public works office at 1000 S. B St. Itís open to the public.

City manager Joe Wrabek said last week that the extra week would give city officials time to iron out contract details with a private consultant and allow a report from a citizensí advisory committee reviewing the annexation issue and communication between citizens and the council members.

Discussions regarding the outsourcing of fire protection came about in recent months as one of a host of issues being reviewed by the advisory committee to gain financial stability for the cash-strapped town.

Service proposals were solicited from rural fire districts 2 (run by Medford) and 5, which primarily covers the Talent area, in recent weeks but District 2 informed the city recently that a contract was not feasible.
