ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Sebrell brothers provided all the firepower Garrett Tygerson would need to navigate the Ashland Pilots to an 8-4 victory over the Richland, Wash., Knights in the quarterfinals of the American Legion A Northwest Regional baseball tournament on Sunday at Mulcahy Field.

The Pilots (38-11, 2-1 tournament) face the Utah Box Elder Bees in a semifinal game at 6 tonight. The winner advances to the title game, while the loser is eliminated.

Lewis Sebrell drove in his brother Charlie twice — the first was a single that cut Richland's lead to 2-1 in the third inning.

Then Lewis Sebrell hit a two-run single to put Ashland up 3-2 in the fifth inning, helping the Pilots to a four-run frame.

"Both the boys played really well today, and hopefully we can keep it going," said Dave Sebrell, Charlie and Lewis' father and the team's manager.

"Charlie really played well. He kept us in the game until we could get the bats going," said Dave Sebrell. "Lewis has been calling the pitches. He takes a load off the coaches and calls a great game, and we let him do it because he does a great job."

Charlie Sebrell went 3-for-4 with three runs, and Lewis Sebrell drove in three runs on two singles. Tygerson went 3-for-5 and scored two runs, and Sam Gaviglio had two hits and picked up the save in an 11/3 innings of relief.

Tygerson found his groove in the third inning after giving up a run in each of the first two frames. He pitched 72/3 innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs while striking out three.

"Tygerson did a great job after he settled down," said Dave Sebrell. "He was really dominant. They couldn't get a swing on the ball, and he held them down in those middle five innings. He looked tremendous, there's no question about it. He's become a great pitcher."

Richland shortstop Derek Yardley bobbled two ground balls hit by Owen Baldrica which resulted in a pair of Ashland runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Ashland's Ian Kendall added an RBI triple in the sixth inning.

Max Gordon made two key diving catches in center field for the Pilots.
