Dorothy Isabelle Gladfelter



Dorothy Isabelle Gladfelter died at the Lake District Long Term Care on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, from natural causes at the age of 92. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeview Church Of The Open Bible. Following the service a pot luck lunch will be served in the Fellowship Hall. Visitation will be Sunday at the Desert Rose Funeral Chapel from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 1:00 p.m.



Dorothy was born to Edwin and Mary (Johnson) Smith in New York City, N.Y., on February 3, 1915. She grew up in New York City where she graduated from high school. She worked in the banking industry until she married Norwood "Duke" Gladfelter in New York City, N.Y., on September 20, 1941. They moved to Portland during WWII and settled in Medford, Ore. after the war ended.



She enjoyed her role as homemaker until the mid 1960's when she took a position as receptionist for the Medford Radiological Group. She moved to Lakeview, Ore. in July 2002. Dorothy was a very active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Medford. She served as a leader for the Blue Birds and the Campfire Girls and was a long time member of the Chapter CG of the Medford, Ore. P.E.O.



She is survived by a daughter, Gail Louise Taylor of Lakeview, Ore.; a son, Paul Wayne Gladfelter of Portland Ore.; and grandchildren, Erica Grace Angel of Redmond, Ore., and Colstin and Lauren Gladfelter of Dallas, Tex. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
