Terence L. Sheets

Terence L. Sheets, 49, died at his home in Medford, on Friday, August 24, 2007. Terry was born October 17, 1957, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and grew up in San Leandro, Calif. He was a Boy Scout, played the trumpet, wrestled and sang baritone in school and church choirs.

Terry attended Chabot College, majoring in Criminology, and worked there as a security guard. He later moved to the Rogue Valley, residing in Shady Cove, and then in Medford.

Terry was, "the gentle giant"-kind, loving, generous, and thoughtful of others in spite of his own painful and disabling condition. His greatest wish was to someday own a Harley and ride with his many friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his hero, his father, Ollen (Joe) Sheets. His father was a 22 year Naval veteran, serving in both WWII, where he survived the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the Korean war. He was also preceded by his mother, Onita Marie Cation Sheets, of Medford; and his sister, Rolane Hughes, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his eldest sister, Roanne Clapp, of Talent; as well as several nieces and nephews.

His family wishes to thank all those who cared for Terry-his friends, his church family, and the many Providence healthcare providers. We hope that Terry's presence on earth-with his sense of humor and profound faith-has brought each one of you a blessing. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 1st, at Bethel Church, 4245 Vista Point Drive, Medford. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Diabetes Association. www.diabetes.org
