A Gold Hill man found dead after an altercation with his wife late Friday was slashed with a knife and shot several times with a small-caliber pistol, autopsy results indicate.

Deputy state medical examiner Dr. James Olson said today that Gill Edward Taylor, 46, suffered nonfatal knife wounds before being shot multiple times.

"The knife wounds, though dramatic, were not fatal," Olson said. "He was killed by the gunshot wounds to several parts of his body."

Taylor's wife, Wanda Lee Taylor, 42, remains in the Jackson County Jail on a murder charge. A grand jury is set to hear her case Thursday.

Investigators have said that Wanda Taylor called Jackson County sheriff's deputies to her home on Ramsey Road at 8:42 p.m. Friday after she and her husband engaged in a fight. She said her husband needed medical attention.

Deputies found her hiding, with injuries to her leg, in a culvert less than a mile from the house. They found Gill Taylor's body inside the home.
