REDDING, Calif. — The Southern Oregon University women's soccer team improved to 4-3-1 on the season after scoring a 1-0 victory over Simpson College on Wednesday.

Freshman forward Auika Muragin notched SOU's lone goal — her third of the season — in the second half of the game.

The Raiders defeated Simpson, 3-0, a year ago.

"We played a decent game," said Southern Oregon coach Jon Clement. "Simpson has vastly improved from the 2006 season and it showed in the game today."

With the goal, Muragin moves to the top of the Raiders standings with a team high of three goals on the season. Justina MacDowell, Kara Bradach, Kayla Wilhelm, and Stacy Szeto each have two goals on the season.

The Raiders return home to host Albertson College on Friday and Eastern Oregon on Saturday. Both games are at University Field and will start at 3 p.m.
