Virginia had two great loves in her life, her family and her love of God. Virginia was very active in her church and community. During her life of service in her church she has served as Relief Society President, Primary President, Young Women's President, Stake Relief Society President and various other church callings. She and her husband served a full time mission in Micronesia Guam Mission on the island on Ponape. Her various community service include PTA President, District 6, and Presidents Rock Point Cemetery Association. She dedicated her entire life to serving others in her church and community.

Virginia enjoyed the beauties of the outdoors. She enjoyed collecting sea shells on the beach and taking long drives with her beloved husband and family. She enjoyed swimming, barbeques with her family and friends. Her favorite hobbies were gardening, painting and writing poems.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 70 years, their four children, 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, her sister, Betty Banry, two brothers, Delbert "Buzz" Shoemaker, Arthur "Cootie" Shoemaker and her half brother, Virgil Shoemaker.
