CRESWELL — Nick DeYarmen knocked in the game's lone goal as St. Mary's slipped by Creswell 1-0 in a District 3 boys soccer contest on Wednesday.

DeYarmen's goal in the sixth minute came on a penalty kick set up when Keenan Grant was taken down in the box.

The Crusaders (5-0-1, 2-0) attempted nine shots on goal while holding Creswell to four.

"Our defense did a great job," said St. Mary's coach Paul Coughlin. "Only four shots on goal is very good."

St. Mary's, led by the efforts of Grant, Jeremy Kotler and Mark Raniele, held off a strong second-half surge from Creswell.

"They came at us really hard at the beginning of the second half," said Coughlin. "Our defense is really strong and we were able to withstand it."
