When we say she blows, we mean it in the kindest sense: Oboist Kristin Kessler performs in Ashland this afternoon.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. at Southern Oregon University's Music Recital Hall, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. Tickets go for $12 for adults and $8 for students.

Kessler, an adjunct professor of music who teaches oboe at SOU, also plays oboe and English horn with the Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra, Rogue Opera and Ashland City Band.

She will be joined in the concert by Scott Cole, violin; Patricia Berlet, viola; Lisa Truelove, cello; Penny Austin, flute; Marla Kasdorf, clarinet; Kathy Staller, bassoon; and Linda Harris, horn.

The program will feature works by Mozart, Françaix, Britten, Telemann, Gottschalk, Chretien, and Piazzolla.
