Earl Towner of Rogue River celebrated his 100th birthday on Oct. 19 with a potluck gathering at the community center in Grants Pass.

Earl Towner of Rogue River celebrated his 100th birthday on Oct. 19 with a potluck gathering at the community center in Grants Pass.

He was born Oct. 16, 1907, in Dewey County, Okla., the fourth of six children. Earl was a rancher in Fench Lake, N.M., and a farmer in Socorro, N.M. He was married to Louise Hawkins for 54 years,

Earl farmed and ranched for more than 70 years, working right up until he was 80 years old. He moved to the Rogue Valley after his wife passed away. Margie Garcia has been his partner for 21/2; years.
