R. June Shannon

June Shannon died October, 9, 2007, in Denver, Colo., of complications due to a stroke.

Our mom was born June 4, 1918, in Marion, Ind., to Harry and Dora Howell. She graduated from Hamilton High School in Los Angeles, Calif, in 1936.

Mom met her future husband, Norman George Shannon in high school and they married in June, 1939. They had four children. In 1965, mom and dad moved the family from Los Angeles, Calif., to Medford. Our mom was employed with the Rogue Valley Country Club as the office manager, until her retirement in 1983.

Mom was a very kind, loving, caring person and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She loved cooking, reading, dancing, water skiing, camping, and the Medford Jazz Jubilee. She was preceded in death by our sister, Michele in 1956, and our dad, in 2003. Mom and dad were married for 64 years. He was the love of her life. Mom moved to Highlands Ranch, Colo., in 2004.

June is survived by her daughters; Janice Monahan, and Denise Shannon, of Medford; her son, Glen Shannon, of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

A celebration of her life and the scattering of her ashes will be held next spring at Lake Shasta, Calif., with all the above family members and those who wish to attend.
