KLAMATH FALLS — An 18-year-old Klamath Falls man has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison for robbing an elderly couple in their home.

Jeffrey Scott Martinez was sentenced today to 70 months for the home invasion robbery of an 83-year-old man and his 82-year-old wife in July.

The Klamath County district attorney's office says Martinez opened the door of the victims' house and brandished what appeared to be a firearm. Police reports indicate Martinez later told police it was an "air soft" gun that fires harmless pellets.

Chief Deputy District Attorney David Groff called it "an outrageous act."
