A Tacoma, Wash., man is in Jackson County Jail today after Oregon State Police stopped him for speeding near Ashland and found more than three pounds of marijuana in his car.

A Tacoma, Wash., man is in Jackson County Jail today after Oregon State Police stopped him for speeding near Ashland and found more than three pounds of marijuana in his car.

At about 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, a trooper spotted a 1998 Subaru Forester traveling northbound at 73 mph in a 55 mph speed zone on Interstate 5 near milepost 11. He stopped the car and another trooper with a drug-detection dog stopped to help.

While walking around the car, the dog alerted the troopers that it sensed drugs. Troopers searched and found approximately 3.3 pounds of marijuana in the rear area of the vehicle.

The driver, Stephen E. McCullough, 50, of Tacoma, was arrested on charges of possession, delivery and manufacture of marijuana, as well as a charge of driving under the influence of marijuana. He remains lodged in jail this morning on $125,000 bail.
