A Medford man faces a drug-possession charge after trading his couch to two undercover officers for an ounce and a half of marijuana.

Investigators with the Jackson County Narcotics Enforcement Team cited Eric Allen Beeker, 41, on a charge of possession of marijuana Tuesday after the trade.

JACNET investigators got an anonymous tip Monday that someone was advertising a couch for sale on Craigslist.com and was willing to take marijuana in trade. An officer called a phone number listed in the ad and arranged to meet Beeker, the couch seller.

Two undercover officers met Beeker at a room he rents at the Medford Inn, 1015 S. Riverside Ave., Monday and negotiated a deal in which they would return the next day with drugs in exchange for the sofa.

The officers delivered the drugs Tuesday at the arranged time, then identified themselves as police and cited and released Beeker on the possession charge.
