Downtown Medford hosts its Winter Light Festival and Tree Lighting today at Vogel Plaza, corner of Main Street and Central Avenue.

Activities begin at 10 a.m. with a Christmas bazaar featuring old-fashioned gifts and food. There will be carolers, strolling musicians and horse-drawn carriage rides. The Winter Light Festival starts at 5 p.m. with Santa and Mrs. Claus greeting children.

Performances by choirs from St. Mary’s, South Medford High School and the Rogue Valley Youth Ensemble will follow Santa’s arrival at the plaza. Former Mayor Lindsay Berryman will emcee the event; Mayor Gary Wheeler will speak and then throw the switch to light the big tree at 7:30 p.m. Call 890-4043 for details.
