Following a 12-0 league record and a run to the playoffs, the Prospect girls volleyball team had three players earn first team Mountain Valley League honors recently.

Junior middle hitter Becky Musard was named the league MVP after averaging nearly eight kills and three blocks per game for the Cougars.

"She was a very huge player on our team," Prospect head coach Marcy Gallagher said. "She worked hard and did anything you asked her to do.

"She's athletic but she has a great work ethic and a great attitude."

Musard joined junior Catherine Anderson and senior Megan Shallenberger, both setters in Prospect's 4-2 system, as the other Cougars on the first team.

The three helped Prospect reach the second round of regional playoffs before the Cougars fell to Adrian, the state runner-up.

Shallenberger was the only Prospect senior this season.

Butte Falls, the fourth-place team in the league, sent senior setter Karlee Stephenson to the first team. She had 137 assists this season, 32 back-row kills, 58 aces and 164 service points.

"Oh my goodness, she was hugely instrumental," Butte Falls coach Ronnie Burg said. "Also as a team leader. She really determined the whole pace of the game and the match for us."
