The Raiders built a double-digit lead at the half and never let Northwest back into the contest.

Jackie Speer led SOU with 16 points and eight rebounds, while former Crater High standout Emily Brookins hit three 3-pointers en route to 14 points.

Chelsea Drivstuen scored 15 points to pace Northwest, which shot just 23 percent from the field in the first half and 25 percent for the game.

Southern Oregon also held a healthy advantage on the boards, outrebounding Northwest 63-34.

The Raiders, at 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the Cascade Conference, are off to their best start in four seasons.

SOU plays at the Menlo Tournament on Dec. 29-30, and return home to play Simpson College at McNeal Pavilion on Jan. 2.

NORTHWEST 82, SOUTHERN OREGON 76 — At Ashland, Southern Oregon dropped its seventh straight game with a Cascade Conference loss to Northwest University at McNeal Pavilion.

The Raiders (4-10, 0-4 CCC) built a 10-point lead over the first five minutes of the game behind a hot start from Matt Cowell but couldn't hold the advantage.

Cowell finished with a career-high 36 points, while Greg George led Northwest with 24 points.

SOU trailed 34-33 at the half and Northwest built its lead to 13 points before the Raiders rallied to within four with one minute to play.
