ROGUE RIVER — A Grants Pass-area man reported missing by his family Christmas Eve died in a car crash on Rogue River Highway just south of Rogue River, police said.

The family of Joshua Isaac Ashbridge, 20, on Saturday found his 1995 Jeep Wrangler in a deep ditch along Rogue River Highway. The Jeep was covered by thick brush, Oregon State Police said in a news release.

Ashbridge was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and died after being ejected from the car, OSP said.

Ashbridge's family reported him missing to Medford and Grants Pass police. He last spoke to them Christmas Eve by phone near a Medford department store.

He told family members he was feeling ill and was on his way home to the Grants Pass area. OSP is still investigating when the crash happened.

OSP troopers from the Central Point and Grants Pass work offices are completing the investigation.

The troopers were assisted at the scene by the Oregon Department of Transportation, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office and Rogue River Fire District crews.
