George J. Fredenburg

George John Fredenburg, 90, of Sams Valley died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Farmington Square. He was born July 12, 1917, in Sams Valley to John Lewis and Hazel Clark (Silver) Fredenburg, on the family homestead that his grandparents built.

His family were some of the early settlers in that area. He often found arrowheads while tilling his fields. He tended his cattle and alfalfa fields until he was 85 years old. George was a simple man with simple needs.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1941 and flew in a B24 as an Aerial Engineer in World War II. He was decorated with the Philippine Liberation medal with Bronze Service Star, Asiatic Pacific Service medal, Victory medal and American Defense Service medal.

George was preceded in death by the love of his life, Elsie Payne; and a sister, Barbara King. Survivors include a sister, Jean Patton of Medford; and extended family, Shirley Yost, Debbie and Lisa Taylor of Gold Hill. His family would like to thank Farmington Square for all the love and support they have given us over the past three years.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2007 at Memory-Gardens Chapel. Interment will be in Memory-Gardens Memorial Park.
