BROOKINGS - The ocean was flat Wednesday and should be quite calm today, but look for the surf to pop up again with new storms forecast for the weekend. Until then, surf perch fishing has been very good near the mouth of the Winchuck River and bottomfishing was very good at near-shore rock outcroppings. A few lingcod also were caught jigging.
