KIRKLAND, Wash. — Ryon Pool poured in 25 points, including 17 in the second half, but it was not enough as Southern Oregon fell to Northwest 86-73 on Friday.

Southern Oregon outscored Northwest 7-0 near the end of the first half to tie the game before Derek Miller nailed a 3-pointer to give Northwest a three point lead heading into the break.

Northwest began the second half on a 12-2 run to increase the lead to 15 points. Pool then scored seven points in a three minute span, including a 3-point shot with 11:05 remaining. Miller promptly followed with a three of his own and Northwest matched Southern Oregon point for point down the stretch.

Greg George led Northwest with 27 points and 10 rebounds on 9-of-17 shooting from the field and 9-of-10 shooting from the free-throw line.

Women's Basketball

SOUTHERN OREGON 84, NORTHWEST UNIVERSITY 70 — At Kirkland, Wash., the Southern Oregon University women's basketball team improved its win-streak to six after a Cascade Conference win over Northwest University.

Jacki Speer led the Raiders with 17 points, going 8 of 12 from the field. Speer also had 11 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Chelsey Muri added 16 points for Southern Oregon and had six assists.

The Raiders led by as much as 11 in the first half before the Eagles came back to lead by five at the break. Southern Oregon came back in the second half, leading by as much as 17 in the last minute.

The win improves the Raiders to 18-3 overall and 9-2 in the Cascade Conference.

Brittany Bowsher led Northwest with 18 points while Erika Hornyak had 16 and Rachel Travis had 14.
