Harold and Pat Miller of Medford celebrated their 50th anniversary with a family dinner on Jan. 18 and an open house buffet on Jan. 19.

Hosting were friends Gwen Lopes and Sandy Hedstrom. Assisting with guest registration was their granddaughter, Xenia Miller of Bothell, Wash.

Attending were their two sons, Kevin Miller of Bothell, Wash., and Ryan Miller of Medford, Harold's sisters, Miriam Massey of Denair, Calif., Erma Honsalek of Duncanville, Texas, Jenny Henke of Richmond, Calif., and brother and wife, Peter and JoAnn Jacobsen of Prundale, Calif., Pat's sisters, Pamela Freitas and Tamara Saba of Medford and about 60 other guests. Pat's brothers, John Smith of Antioch, Calif., and Joe Smith of Jamestown, Calif., and niece Doreen Smith of Twain Harte, Calif., were not able to attend.

Harold Miller married Patricia Smith of Fremont, Calif., on Jan. 18,1958, at the Newark Assembly of God Church in Newark, Calif.

After their marriage, the couple resided in Mount Vernon, Wash., and on the Naval Base at Alt Field, Oak Harbor, Wash., while Harold completed his military service.

Harold became a plywood sander grader at Anacortes Plywood and Veneer Mill after honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy. The couple relocated to Daly City, Calif., in 1960 where Harold went to work for the U S. Post Office.

He worked as a mail distribution clerk, window (retail) clerk, letter carrier, supervisor delivery operations, post office accountant, and superintendant of mail processing.

He was appointed officer-in-charge of the Fremont, Calif., Post Office in 1973 and in 1976 appointed management sectional center director of support services in Flagstaff, Ariz. In 1980, he was appointed to the same position in Medford.

Before his retirement in 1992 he was the superintendent of postal operations for the Medford Post Office. After his postal retirement he became a general contractor and owned and operated Discovery Decks and Fence Builder until 2006.

Patricia operated "Patties Pre-care" preschool and child day care in their home for many years, up until 2006.

The Millers have two sons and one granddaughter of Bothell, Wash.
