Frederick M. Sheire



Frederick M. Sheire died January 22, 2008, of complications from a stroke suffered on February 27, 2007. He was 92 years old.



Fred was born June 22, 1915, in St. Paul Minnesota. He attended two years at St. Olaf College in Minnesota before beginning his career in printing at a custom printing concern, Brown and Bigalow in St Paul. He married Joy Adele Sheire in 1937.



During World War II he served in the Navy based in the Philippine Islands. After the war he continued working at Brown and Bigalow until his parents retired in 1960. He then took over the publishing of the Fairfax Standard, a weekly newspaper, in Fairfax Minnesota. He and Joy retired in 1978 and moved to Ashland, Ore. He worked in Ashland for the multiple real estate listing service for the next few years and was an active volunteer in the Methodist Church, Shakespeare Theatre and Southern Oregon University.



Fred was an inspiration and example of enthusiasm to those he loved. He practiced organization and duty. He accomplished big things and was happy in the small ways of everyday life. He loved people.



Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Joy; and his son, Blair Frederick. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Dumont of Hillsboro, Ore.; his son, Brent Sheire of St. Louis Park, Minn.; and seven grandchildren, Thom (Tad), Brock, Craig, Brenda, Sara, Joe and Ross; and 10 great-grandchildren. We miss him.



A memorial service will be planned in the spring in Ashland.
