John Allen Tuning



John Tuning, 74, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2008. He was born December 1, 1933 in Caldwell, Idaho, the son of Theodore and Donna Tuning.



He served a total of 23 years in the U.S. Army, retiring April 30, 1974 in Alaska. He served one term in the Korean War and three terms in the Vietnam War.



While living in Alaska he met and married Carol Anne Jones in Bird Creek, Alaska.



John was a master diesel mechanic who could work on any engine. He drove long-haul for England for 10 years before retiring to enjoy his family, fishing, and watching football. He loved watching the 49ers play.



John is survived by his daughter, Tina, of Salt Lake City, Utah; his son, Tom, of Anchorage, Alaska; sisters, Virginia and Annetta; a brother, David; brother-in-law, Neal; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.



He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol; son, Joe; and his parents.



Services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Conger~Morris at 10:00 a.m., with military services following at the V.A National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Oregon at 11:00 a.m.
