KLAMATH FALLS — With offensive leader Mike Shepherd in foul trouble in the second half, ninth-ranked Phoenix managed only nine points in a 49-37 Skyline Conference loss to No. 8 Henley.

The win for Henley (19-4, 11-3 Skyline) secured second place in the Skyline.

"Shepherd's a great player," said Henley coach Jack Lee. "He's strong. But he ran into foul trouble, which was real big for us late in the game. He's really smooth when he's on the court. When he's on the bench, they're not the same team."

Phoenix (10-5 Skyline) was down by just one at intermission but was held to just three in the third quarter. Shepherd's fourth foul came late in the period and he didn't return until five minutes remained and the Pirates trailed by 10.
